The picture shows the numerals easy to read but in fact the watch has to be at the right angle for the numbers to be read. Certain angles the numbers blend in with the background and cannot read. Strains eyes when reading time. I should have got the other one with the white background.
This piece exemplifies a traditional yet classical American timepiece. It has a gothic aroma to the entire aesthetic of the watch, and truly compliments a traditional yet plain wardrobe. Being featured on the alligator Bulova in-house strap with a custom strap buckle, it seems to bring this watch on another level with the matching black dial, straight lines, and polished silver hands/numbers. You won't be disappointed in this timepiece. I do not view such a piece as a "dress up" or "down", but seems suitable for all occasions; work, school, dinners, at-home. The rectangle does take a bit of time to get use to, but admittedly, with the shape of this watch, it does not dig into the back of your wrist as circular designs will. This watch can be worn a bit higher on the wrist and still appear natural. Definitely worthy a purchase from myself!
