Straight from the 1970s comes the Bulova 1973 Jet Star, an iconic model from the brands impressive history, now equipped with an equally impressive movement. Borrowing from its historic forebear, the stainless steel case features a striking angular design with broad facets and a domed sapphire crystal. The magnificently claret sunburst dial is accented by a black chapter ring, applied black and red hour markers, and matching silver tone and red hands. Luminescent plots at each hour and fill in the hands allow for exceptional legibility in every environment, while a date display sits perfectly at 3 o’clock. The new Jet Star is powered by Bulova’s Precisionist movement, a revolutionary 8-jewel quartz mechanism vibrating at a remarkable 262kHz, accurate to 5 seconds per month with increased resistance to temperature changes, and with a sweeping seconds hand. Complementing the stainless steel case is a matching bracelet with a deployant clasp closure and latched spring bars for easy release. Awesome watch... looks more expensive than it is. Love love love the smooth secound hand. I look forward to wearing it everytime I were a color that will compliment the watch.
Been wanting this watch for a while and I finally pulled the trigger during Black Friday when Bulova had a sitewide 30% off sale. I absolutely love it. The sunburst burgundy dial that fades to black on the perimeter with the applied indices is such a beauty to look at. And let’s not forget about the smooth as butter sweeping seconds hand from the Precisionist movement inside. Something you can only find in a Spring Drive Grand Seiko that costs at least 10x more. One of my favorite watches in the collection that will be sure to see plenty of wrist time as long as I’m alive to wear it.
This is a fantastic watch. I love the smooth sweep of the second hand. I also love the accuracy. The red dial looks great and the bracelet is comfortable. I am so happy I bought this watch.
Fits great on the wrist, and the dial is an amazing burgundy that looks much better in person than in the product photos. Also the sweeping seconds looks much nicer than the “ticking” seconds on all other quartz watches.

This watch looks great on the wrist. The case size fits nicely, and it's great that the bracelet has built in quick release metal straps. The deployant is easy and firm, and the deep purple maroon color looks great.
I just received the Red Jet Star in the mail today. Right out of the box, the watch is quite stunning. The sunburst dial is hypnotic in optimal lighting. The bracelet is very comfortable and a fingerprint magnet - but that is the price you pay for the flash. I am looking forward to keeping this on my wrist for the next few months. Definitely a daily driver for the proper setting. Would make an excellent gift to anyone who wears a watch.
I recently purchased this watch from a local dealer. The dial looks so much better in real life then in the stock pictures. It has a lot of heft to the watch, however the sizing of the case and the unique square H bracelet really impress me. The red hues remind me of the Mazda Soul Red Crystal paint as the color changes upon the angle of the light hitting it. I love the smooth second hand sweep and while I realize that the battery may need to be changed every 2 to 3 years the screw down case back and quick release band should make it an easy effort. Major negatives is that it does attract fingerprints easily and while it is domed there is still quite a bit of reflective glare from the sapphire crystal. An antiglare coating would have been appreciated. Beautiful watch overall, I love mine!

I purchased this watch for the smooth sweep of second hand and the incredibly accurate time. It hits it out of the park in both these parameters and the red wine color dial is exactly the right color
Excellently styled, can fit a multitude of wrist sizes, highly accurate with low maintenance quartz movement. The movement mimics the second hand of a high-beat mechanical movement. Fair price for what the watch is.
As I mentioned in a previous review, I purchased 2 Jet Stars: red dial and gold-tone dial. The red dial Jet Star has a comfortable steel bracelet and I really like the deployant clasp. The dial contrasts (dark red face with black chapter and silver and red hands) make it easy to read and add quiet elegance to the watch. The machining of the stainless steel case is superb. The HPQ is an accurate and precise movement.
I purchased my Jet Star directly bbbthe crimson red dial and it is amazing! The case and bracelet look and feel cheap. The highly polished parts of the case and bracelet look like fake plastic chrome. Bulova needs to take a page from Seiko and Citizen on their fit, finish and bracelets. I am being generous in rating this watch 2 stars. The only reason for 2 stars are the dial and movement. Everything else is a 1 star rating. Would I buy this watch again? Probably not!
Great looking watch
This watch is really a nice looking watch. Honestly it looks and feels more expensive than it is. The smooth sweep of the seconds hand is so nice. The dial looks so nice in the sunlight. I also have the yellow dial version which I also really like. This one on the bracelet is a bit more dressy. My only issue I had was that I asked for the bracelet to be sized and it was sized way too small. The extra links were included so it was not a big deal to add a few back in.

Jetstar is a Star
This watch is beautiful and one of my preferred after one month ownership. Of course you get the smooth second hand, the magnificent 'burgundi' dial, and the precision. That is how it is advertised after all! A few notes. Battery for the movement is not mentioned in the user manual (it is a CR2016 which is about the diameter of the '8102' caliber). The sapphire has no anti-reflection coating whatsoever and this can give an hazy look (Ok it is a Jetstar hommage after all). Precision was not great the first week and I was concerned. However it has settled to -1.5s for the entire first operation month, and now it seems it will be even better and super stable (not sure why)...
