Concerns about the Hybrid Ceramic should be dissuade, as it comes across more substantial than the competition. The case has similar dimension to the stainless steel version, and has a 20mm lug instead of 19mm, making strap options more plentiful. The sapphire crystal has a little bit of distortion at the edges, adding a slight quirk to the dial presence. I think the white dial is a bit more subtle than the other colors, blending with the case better, and the wave pattern doesn’t scream at you. The bezel insert is metallic, silver and black, rather than the case colors which adds some nice visual difference to the orange bezel, which matches the seconds hand (Bulova uses the same Pantone number for their orange across the line, which is nice, so now all my watches match!). The applied markers and lume are decent, not massively over the top, but appropriate to the watch. The caseback is engraved with the animal name of the watch which is a nice touch for sure. Reviving the Snorkel nameplate in a lower water resistance rating (100 m) and different materials hearkens back to the historic place that the Snorkel had in the line, compared to the Oceanographer line of 666 ft. rated watches. The cardboard watch box (featured in an earlier post) harkens back to the wood grain boxes of the 70’s with an angled display. The booklet and information is pretty standard, but you have a QR Code to register your watch, which if done on Mobile asks if you’d like to use the Bulova App, which was new for me. Lots of interesting options for registration of your watches, links into your Bulova.com account and populates your registered pieces. For a fanboy like me, that’s a nice touch. You also get access to the media produced for the website, optimized for mobile OS. If you’re in the mood for something that feels like a real watch, and less like a plastic toy, with the ability to repair, a stainless crown and case back, plus the benefit of a sapphire crystal, for $350, then do check them out
Orange!
Beautiful watch! This watch is very eye catching and so light for a ceramic watch. I also love the clownfish on the back. Great watch for all year but especially for summer.
Perfect
Absolutely gorgeous, great quality
